Taylor Gillium is pursuing an MS in Biology, with an emphasis on Entomology at the University of North Texas. Taylor's research focuses on insects and birds and she is currently working on a project evaluating the diets of insectivorous birds at DFW Airport and evaluating the phenology of insects on the airfield.

Taylor worked with Dr. James Kennedy in the U.S. and with Dr. Tamara Contador in Chile.

Taylor says, "My project in Chile sought to understand the relationship between terrestrial arthropods and riparian habitat in the Sub-Antarctic Magellanic ecoregion. My research experience with the program taught me so much about the world and about myself. It was an amazing getting to work with researchers from around the world. It was inspiring to see how passionate everyone was to be there. This experience taught me how to improvise, collaborate, and think in ways I never thought possible before. I wouldn't take any part of it back, including falling into the river at least once a week!"

Taylor presented her research at Society for Freshwater Science conference in Salt Lake City, UT in May. The poster was titles, "Influence of Riparian Habitat on Terrestrial Invertebrate. Input into a Sub-Antartic Magellanic Region Stream."
