Our projects focus on diverse aspects of biocultural diversity and conservation to address the intrinsic link between human cultures and the environment. This approach emphasizes that cultural diversity is as endangered, if not more so, than species diversity in many places, but the study of biocultural diversity and conservation requires a trans-disciplinary approach to understand, communicate and implement findings. Therefore, our program's research, education and conservation efforts attempt to integrate the sciences with the humanities, including environmental ethics, Yaghan traditional ecological knowledge, ecology, art and policy making, among others.
